LAVĀDA  MATERIALS AND SUSTAINABILITY

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry's standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.

Lavāda handbags and handbag accessories are made from PETA-approved, Nopal cactus which has been churned into organic, cruelty-free leather. This leather is also a USDA Certified Biobased Product, along with meeting OEKO-TEX Standard 100 certification. The end result is a durable and industrial-ready material that is as strong as it is supple. The best part is cacti need very little water, and the leaves grow back quickly. They are truly eco-friendly. At Lavāda, we pay attention to the environmental impact of our design decisions.

Lavāda is proud to be a sustainable brand. We make our handbags from Desserto® cactus leather. And that carries huge environmental benefits. It only takes about 3 mature leaves of the cactus variety we use to make one linear meter of fabric. New leaves from the unharmed plant will sprout in as little as 6 months. All varieties of cacti are carbon-eating machines and can grow in severely degraded soil. Desserto materials are biodegradable under anaerobic thermophilic conditions.

Sometimes "vegan leather" is full of plastic binders. If you're wondering about fillers, like PVC (Polyvinyl chloride), we've got good news. There are no toxic chemicals, phthalates, or formaldehyde in our material. Engineered with a specific form of polyurethane--a proprietary Bio-Polymer which is partially made from organic renewable compounds--it decomposes faster. And the dyes come from organic pigments—no heavy metals. When you wear your Lavāda handbag, you can do so with confidence.

Durability is top of mind at Lavāda. Thanks to strong molecular bonding from the cactus and chosen engineering, our handbags are highly resistant to abrasion, rubbing, and tearing. The organic, sustainable material we use is a great alternative to animal leathers that are not environmentally friendly and that may crack if not dried quickly. Not to mention the toxic dyes that are used on animal leathers. Our fabrics are competitive and can handle humidity and liquids very well.

CARE INSTRUCTIONS

With proper care and light cleaning, your Lavāda bag will serve you for a very long time. First, only use water-based cleaning solutions. Never use solvents or oils. You can use a mild soap solution (like shampoo and water) on stains and remove with a damp, cotton cloth. We recommend white cloth.

If you spill something into your bag, try to wipe it off immediately. For beer, wine, juice, coffee, or tea spills, use a mild soap and water solution to remove the spot. Rinse with a cloth soaked in water. Using a dry cotton cloth, absorb any excess moisture.

If you do get oils on your bag, try removing them with a mild soap or shampoo solution.
